1

Hotel Lease

At least 50,000 hotel room nights are booked for patients every year but the space nor the rates are guaranteed. Working with a developer on new a hotel build could create the opportunity for a long-term lease on multiple floors built economically and purposefully.

2

Development Partnership

The Broadway Corridor is a perfect opportunity to incorporate community-enhancing space within an existing development project close to the hospital. Patient housing could utilize a shell within a new build or acquire multiple apartment units or floors; this falls under the category of Community Amenity Contributions (CAC) and could potentially be a donated space from the developer, back to the city, allocated to HiH for patient housing as turn-key.

Ground-Up

Think a Ronald McDonald House for adults. The current RMH has 73 rooms; the second RMH in Vancouver will have 75 rooms. You could easily argue the need for this much space for adult patients and caregivers. Land acquisition and construction costs turn this into a major project that would involve private funding. Operational budgets would rely on annual funding.
